North Carolina Southern-Style Baby Back Ribs

  • 1 rack of baby back pork ribs
  • Barbecue Ribs Rub:
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon regular table salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • Barbecue Ribs Sauce:
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Massage the dry rub into the ribs generously, coating both sides.
  2. Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap and refrigerate (preferably overnight) to let the flavors meld.
  3. Prepare your grill for indirect heating (fire on one side only).
  4. Grill the ribs over indirect heat for about 4 hours or until very tender. Baste with the mustard sauce during the final 30 minutes.
  5. For the barbecue sauce, combine all ingredients in a slow cooker and let it cook until you're ready to eat.
  6. Serve the ribs with the barbecue sauce on the side.
